Environmental Specialist III
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Environmental Specialist III, are to:
- Ensure proper characterization and disposal of all wastes shipped off-site for disposal.
- Manage the Site hazardous and non-hazardous waste drum storage area.
- Leverage experience and relationships with waste disposal vendors to support overall Site operations while minimizing cost.
- Position oversees the Site groundwater Corrective Measures program.
- Conduct permitted sampling and various environmental medias in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide support of all plant environmental programs.
- Position responsible to carry Site MERIT phone on a rotating weekly basis to support management of external transportation-related incidents involving product spills (24x7 coverage required while on rotation).
- Assist with cleanup efforts related to spills on site.
- Provide for support of all environmental efforts as needed, for example gathering and shipment of wastewater samples.
- Maintain current Outside Processor Assessments (OPAs) for waste disposal facilities.
- Maintain all trainings required by job scope (e.g., DOT, EPA RCRA, etc.).
- Perform Daily, Weekly and Monthly inspections and maintain maintenance of all equipment needed to perform job like pick-up truck, fork truck, sampling equipment and safety equipment.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 6 years’ related manufacturing experience or bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ related manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Competencies: Effectively leverage external and internal relationships.
- Manage several projects simultaneously.
- Effectively communicate complex issues.
