Purchasing Agent Job at Blazer Boats
Job Summary:
Purchasing agent must be dependable, organized, detail oriented. Responsible for locating suppliers, researching goods, services and materials and processing purchasing orders. Works and negotiates with suppliers to purchase goods and services for Blazer Boats.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review production orders prior to starting to insure no delays of product specific items per boat
- Audit and report inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock
- Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria
- Interview vendors to learn about products, services and pricing
- Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of Blazer Boats
- Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Authorizing payments, maintain receipts, records purchase orders, contracts, receipts, transactions & inventories
- Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner
- Have reliable transportation
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings.
- Unload incoming deliveries and assign inventory to correct location
- Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Proper procedure for warranty part returns (dealer/supplier)
- Execute written communication of product delays and shortages to upper management via email
- Oversee inventory levels and forecast orders

Required Skills/Abilities:
· Negotiation and analytical skills

· Effective communications skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
· Exceptional attention to detail, time management, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
· Thorough understanding of warehouse policies and procedures
· Boat parts knowledge
· Warehouse or logistics experience
· Surveillance skills
· Familiarity with bookkeeping, inventory control practices & logistics
· Comfortable using inventory management software and other organizational computer applications
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 2-3 years’ experience preferred
· Boat/Marine experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years old
· Able to lift 50+ lbs.
· Prolonged periods of standing, walking and sitting at a computer
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
