Jessup Manufacturing is seeking a Quality Engineer for Lake Bluff
Exciting opportunity at our Lake Bluff Plant
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer monitors and improves the quality of processes and products, with oversight of daily production testing, assuring quality standards are met. Supports Lake Bluff and McHenry manufacturing sites.
Responsibilities:
- Initiates and leads problem solving teams and continuous improvement activities using established quality problem solving tools, LEAN, Ishikawa, 8D, KT, or others
- Develops and leads Supplier Quality program including incoming inspection, improvements, CAPA, documentation, and supplier visits as needed
- Maintains and creates new procedures and programs through the ISO 9001:2015 quality system and leads internal and external audits.
- Collaborates with suppliers and operations teams to develop and implement process controls and improvements.
- Manages work in process and final inspection testing of materials and acts as back up when necessary. Investigates documents, troubleshoots, and resolves product or production issues timely.
- Defines root cause, develops corrective actions, preventive actions, solutions, and improvements for customer complaints, non-conforming material, and raw material issues for effective closure of quality issues
- Applies methods such as DOE, Six Sigma, and data trending to analyze root cause of non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Ensures workflows, processes, and products comply with quality requirements and safety regulations
- Initiates and leads continuous improvement activities (individual effort or cross-functional team).
- In collaboration with R&D, attends development converting trials and provides documented feedback of finds and improvements
- Interplant travel required (22 miles)
- Up to 10% International and Domestic travel.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years technical experience in a Quality Engineering/ Assurance role, preferably in a manufacturing environment or relevant experience in a laboratory, chemical, converting or pressure sensitive tape environment
- Bachelor's degree in math, science, or engineering
- Experience with and implementation of well-developed Quality Management Systems
- Experience with product evaluation, ability to follow written protocol, excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Successful Corrective and Preventive action implementations and Process Improvements resulting from Quality problem solving
SKILLS:
- Self-starter with strong knowledge Quality principles and laboratory practices
- Ability to receive and provide feedback in a positive manner
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- ISO quality system background.
- Proficient in LEAN, 8D, KT, or similar problem solving tools
- Is process driven, with a growth mindset
- Outstanding attention to detail.
