Responsible for attending to Chesley Skate Park front desk duties during scheduled shift. Assists and supervises high quality YMCA Chesley Skate Park programs, including special events and birthday parties. The Skate park operates Monday - Saturday from 1pm - 8pm and Sunday from 1pm - 6pm. Now hiring for Tuesday/Thursday shifts with more hours available over the summer months.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for registering and distributing program information, including: handling money for daily admission, punch cards, or season passes, and authorizing waivers.
2. Responsible for scheduled shift time. If not able to work, coordination for a substitute is your responsibility.
3. Assist and promote facility and program activities, special events, and competitions to meet the needs of the skate park community.
4. Maintain scheduled inventory reports for all inventory.
5. Assist in the overall upkeep of the skate park facility, including end of shift cleaning duties.
6. Report facility maintenance issues in a timely manner to Skate Park Director for further review.
7. Ensure proper Skate Park procedures are followed and control access to the building.
8. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with skate park members, guests, and parents in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.
10. Model relationship-building skills and demonstrates the Core Values of the YMCA.
11. Attend scheduled Staff Meetings.
12. Follow all program policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention Policies.
13. Any other duties as assigned by the Family Engagement Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Never convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse
2. Six months or more of related experience and/or knowledge of Skate Park operations is a plus.
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications must be completed within 60 days of employment (YMCA provided).
4. Experience with computer technology and willingness to learn.
5. Exceptional communication and organization skills.
6. High school diploma or equivalent required.
7. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 60 days of hire.
8. Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
9. Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills with the ability to be flexible and quickly adapt.
10. Demonstrated commitment and passion to develop youth in a recreational setting.
11. Self-motivated, responsible, and ability to multi-task
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs). Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.
