McCain Food’s facility in Burley, Idaho is a large-scale food processing plant, employing approximately 700 employees. This site specializes in the production frozen potato products.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the processing of bi-weekly payroll for the assigned locations. Coordinate and assist in the system processing of hourly payroll. Ensure that the time recorded in the automated system is properly approved and processed to ensure employees have been properly paid.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis and administration of time, attendance, hourly vacation, and payroll related items
  • Prepare payroll file for uploading to the payroll system, ensuring adherence to established payroll deadlines, as well as sending all payroll adjustments to the Payroll Team
  • Responds to payroll related inquiries from employees, conducts pay investigations, and prepares pay adjustments
  • Conduct all root cause analysis into payroll concerns/issues.
  • Ensure that payroll will be processed accurately and efficiently as required by corporate guidelines and Federal, State and/or Provincial regulatory requirements are met.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records by means of computer generated reports and internal balancing/ auditing procedures to reduce the possibility of company liability.
  • Administer time clock system, ensuring accuracy of hours, vacations, department assignments, job code assignments, labor codes, and timecard confirmation.
  • Assist all factory departments in auditing daily labor usage accounts, facilitation of prompt and accurate payment for vacation and holiday payments
  • Provide necessary reporting for employee attendance tracking and management.
  • Enter holidays, vacations, bereavements, shift changes, etc. into Kronos system.
  • Maintain copies of vacation slips and backup to what is entered into Kronos.
  • Maintain People Editor Files in Kronos.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal information, including attendance records and PTO requests.
  • Provide required weekly and monthly reports.
  • Work closely with Supervisors and Operations Specialist to ensure accuracy and timely approval of time keeping records
  • Request IS ticket to create Kronos Username for newly hired supervisors.
  • Properly train all newly hired supervisors on the Kronos system and ensure correct communication of their position’s responsibility.
  • Coach supervisors and management to increase accountability for timekeeping responsibilities, targeting to reduce unapproved time and errors in the payroll process
  • Complete Annual Increase verification for assigned locations.
  • Run Holiday month mass updated in the Kronos system to ensure Holidays are correctly pulled into the system.
  • Ensure Holiday OT for individuals working on scheduled Holidays.
  • Input PTO rates per employee where required for assigned locations.
  • Input any missing data in the Kronos System for all newly hired employees.
  • Provides necessary reporting for third-party agency employee hours submission.
  • Participates in site employee meetings, town halls, and similar sessions.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in business or human resources management, labor relations or related field is preferred.
  • Candidate status or working toward a designation as a Payroll Practitioner in either Canada or the USA would be considered an asset.
  • 2-4 years’ experience with payroll processing
  • General knowledge of Human Resources theories, practices, legislation and resources for the State/Province of assigned locations.
  • Excellent communication skills – listening, verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, database software, presentation software, email and web browsers
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to foster positive working relationships
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and analyzing information, attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A self-starter with ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent problem solving and coaching abilities
  • Provide a high level of discretion when working with confidential information
  • Kronos, Infinium and Ultipro knowledge and skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize


Physical Demand:

Constant: use and movement of hands and standing on regularly scheduled shift.

Frequently: Bending, walking, grasping of hands, and reaching for up to 3 -6 hours daily.

Occasionally: Bending at the waist, squatting, kneeling, and twisting at the neck and waist, pushing and pulling for up to 3 hours a day.
