Our NOVONIX Battery Technology Solutions division, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, focuses on innovative battery research and development, along with providing advanced battery testing equipment and services on a global scale. In Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, our Anode Materials division manufactures our synthetic graphite anode materials used to make lithium-ion batteries which power electric vehicles, personal electronics, medical devices, energy storage units, and more.

Role Summary:

This person will report to the Assistant General Counsel and provide legal and administrative support services to the legal team and to internal business clients with an emphasis on corporate, contract, transactional, and other corporate support matters. Experience with government contracts is a plus. This person will ideally work in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but exceptionally qualified looking for remote opportunities will be considered.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operates independently, develops, and institutes processes for the paralegal function
  • Assists in preparing, maintaining, and managing corporate records and other essential legal documents while ensuring proper indexing and filing of a wide range of original legal documents
  • Prepares and files legal documents with appropriate federal, state, local and foreign authorities, as required
  • Researches and analyzes legal issues and questions using sources such as statutes, regulations, legal articles, and other secondary legal resources, with appropriate attorney oversight
  • Assists, as needed, in the due diligence process in connection with business and finance transactions
  • Forms, dissolves, and assists with ongoing corporate governance of legal entities
  • Supports efforts to prepare for and conduct meetings of the board of directors, board committee, and shareholders’ meetings
  • Prepares corporate resolutions and officer’s certificates
  • Provides legal, project management, and administrative support to ESG and Disclosure committees
  • Organizes key agreements and intellectual property files

You are:

  • A graduate with a bachelor’s degree, required
  • A professional with 5+ years of relevant experience as a paralegal for a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, lean and hybrid-work corporate environment
  • Able to prioritize work tasks and work independently while also functioning effectively as a member of a team
  • Exceptionally organized and have excellent time management skills; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Able to interact with all levels of management
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Able to acquire new skills and knowledge of changing technologies
  • Strongly proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and have the agility to learn new software applications, as needed
  • Capable of handling sensitive and confidential situations and can demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Familiar with administering contract management and review processes and systems

Extra awesome if you also have:

  • Experience with public companies and start-ups and related securities law compliance
  • Experience with government contracts and compliance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
