Position: ResearchPrograms Administrator
Location: Bethesda, MD or remote work
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Hourly: 15-20 hours per week, 30 hours starting May 2023
Reports to: National Director of Research
Position Summary
This is a part-time, hourly position. The Research Programs Administrator will be responsible for administrative aspects of the Research Programs Department of the Hydrocephalus Association (HA). HA is the largest funder of hydrocephalus research and the Research Department aims to advance and steer the direction of research in hydrocephalus to ultimately find a cure.
The administrator will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to, grants administration, engaging with physicians and scientists in program initiatives, maintaining data in the Association constituent database, maintaining the HA’s research websites, and other administrative duties required for the day-to-day running of the HA’s research programs. Applicants should be highly organized and able to work independently. A background in science, research, medicine, or health services is preferred.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
- Works with supervisor to aid in administrative aspects of research grant cycles
- Provides administrative support for research program initiatives as needed
- Facilitates community engagement with industry, science, and medical partners
- Works with supervisor to coordinate and maintain active engagement in the scientific network (HA Network for Discovery Science, HANDS)
- Plans and manages logistics for all research-related meetings and events
- Manages and updates research-related websites
- Maintains data entry in the constituent database
- Maintains a master calendar of research events and deadlines for research programs
- Works effectively in collaboration with all other HA staff members
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Superb organizational and planning skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Ability to also work in a collaborative, team environment
- Demonstrated computer proficiency, including strong command of Microsoft Office Suite
- Interest in scientific or health/medical research preferred
- Experience in database management preferred
- Experience in developing and editing website content preferred
- Working knowledge of basic communications and social media a plus
- Experience in meeting planning a plus

The Hydrocephalus Association (HA) is the largest national nonprofit organization dedicated to hydrocephalus. The mission of the Hydrocephalus Association is to find a cure for hydrocephalus and improve the lives of those affected by the condition. This will be accomplished by collaborating with patients, caregivers, physicians, scientists, and industry to raise awareness and funding high-impact research. HA’s goal is to prevent, treat and ultimately find a cure for hydrocephalus. HA’s vision is a future without hydrocephalus.
