The Slide Attendant works in conjunction with Lifeguards to ensure participants safely utilize the slides at City of Hobbs aquatics facilities.


Essential Duties

Interacts with Lifeguards to safely, effectively, and efficiently operate the City of Hobbs aquatics facilities. Ensures the safety of all participants and completes other duties as assigned to promote the safety and operations of aquatic facilities.


The Slide Attendant will attend all in-services in regards to safety and aquatics operations that Lifeguards are required to attend.

Listens with comprehension and communicates accurately, clearly, and concisely to facilitate an efficient operation. Complies with safety rules and appropriately maintains and uses equipment and material. Maintains confidentiality of matters relating to the City at all times. Demonstrates self-initiative in performing routine tasks as in accordance with standard operating procedures and standard operating guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and chain of command. Dependable attendance is required to be successful in this position.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

May serve on various employee committees as required and assigned.

This position assists with all facility programs as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Must be 16 years of age. Experience working at aquatics facilities is highly desirable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Applicant must be dependable.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships up and down the chain of command.
  • Must have exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to deal with people under stressful and demanding situations.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of employment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of Pool Managers, Seasonal Head lifeguards, and the facility Director.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate controls and reach with upper and lower body and hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office and moderately loud when in other part of the facility.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions.
